Each letter sound is written and read by itself. Later these sounds are blended to form syllables and then words. Various elements of language are taught. These include consonants, vowels, diagraphs, blends, and diphthongs. Students learn to put sounds together for words, syllable types, root words, and affixes. Children learn about the rules that make the English language. They also learn the words that follow no rules. This knowledge carries over to reading and spelling and writing. Visual Phonics is used daily in connection with VoWac. Students' hands become a daily tool for learning. This program addresses language in a structured, sequential, and cumulative pattern.
