Pacelli Catholic Uniform Policy and Dress Codes

 

Parents and students share the responsibility of abiding by the uniform policy that has been established for the elementary school. At certain times during the school year, a student may have permission to wear other attire, but prior staff approval is required.

The preferred outfitter for dress code clothing for the elementary school is Donald’s Uniform Store. Their webpage is http://www.donaldsuniform.com/ and their phone number is 1-800-728-8082. Uniform clothing can be found at other department stores, but be sure all items purchased are the same color/style as defined in our policy below.

For SAFETY REASONS, students should wear shoes with a full back, low heels, and secured to the foot. Tennis shoes style is preferable. NO clogs or flip-flops.

Optional:
1. Students may wear the monogrammed Catholic School fleece jacket in school. When this jacket is worn, a uniform shirt must be worn underneath. These can be purchased in the school office. ($30 youth sizes/$35 adult sizes)
2. Due to the warmer weather, students may wear the navy uniform shorts (without jumpers/skirts) until October 15th and after April 15th.
3. Girls in grades 4-5 may wear navy corduroy or navy pants or slacks without their jumper or skirt during the months from Thanksgiving until Easter. NO LEGGINGS OR SPANDEX OF ANY KIND.

Skirts (Girls may wear skirts that are khaki, navy, or black (no shorter than 2 inches above the knee)

  • Fridays are Spirit Days. Students may wear Pacelli attire with the dress code pants. The last Friday of each month will be a $1.00 Jean Day with all proceeds going to a designated cause each month.
  • Jean Passes can be earned (they cannot be purchased) and they are allowed ONLY on Fridays.
  • The preferred outfitter for the middle school is Land's End for dress code clothing: www.landsend.com. Logo shirts must come from Land’s End. Our preferred school number is 900133208 when ordering.

 

  • At all times a student's appearance must be appropriate to a Catholic school environment. Any student whose dress appears to circumvent the spirit and intent of the dress code is not in compliance. If students choose not to follow the intent of the dress code, students will call their parents for a change of clothing to be brought to school to change into.
  • Clothes that promote sex, drugs, alcohol, violence and tobacco or those that contain racist or suggestive language are unacceptable.
  • All items worn to school must be clean and in good repair. Students are to be clean-shaven. Clothing, hairstyle or jewelry is not to be distracting or disruptive of the educational process.
  • Pierced jewelry is limited to the ears only. A maximum of two earrings per ear may be worn. No other piercing on the face is allowed—facial piercings must be removed completely during the school day. No visible tattoos are allowed.
  • Any item of clothing that is or appears to be an undergarment should not be visible. Hats and sunglasses are not to be worn inside the building.
  • Compliance with the dress code is the joint responsibilty of the student and the student's parent(s) or guardian(s).
  • Enforcement of the dress code is the responsibilty of the teachers and administrators.
  • Final interpretation of the dress code will be the responsibilty of the Principal. This ruling will be final.

Pants
Slacks or corduroy. Capri pants are acceptable as long as they meet all other dress code requirements.
Pants
No sweatpants, pajama pants, wind pants, denim jeans or look-alike jeans, leggings, stirrup pants, or any apparel with writing on the rear. Pants must fit. Oversized or ill-fitting pants are unacceptable.
Shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts and vests
Collared shirts must be worn by all students. Pacelli, LP, and AHS (sport in season) logo sweaters/sweartshirts are allowed—if sweater/sweatshirt is removed, a collared shirt must be worn in its place.
Shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts and vests
No t-shirts are allowed—all shirts must have a collar with logo/writing not to exceed 2". All logos/writing must be Pacelli, LP, or AHS (sport in season). No other logos/writing of any nature are allowed.
Skirts/Dresses
All skirts/dresses should be no shorter than 2" above the knee. Dresses should have sleeves, be modest and not display cleavage. Hemmed denim jeans skirts with no frays or loose ends are acceptable.

No miniskirts, split skirts, any apparel with writing across the rear.

Hemmed dress shorts, mid-thigh or longer in length. Shorts can ONLY be worn until October 15th in the fall and after April 15th in the spring.

No athletic shorts, denim jean shorts or look-alike jean shorts, any apparel with writing across the rear.
Footwear
Shoes must be worn at all times. Socks must be worn with shoes. All footwear must have a front and a back. Sandals may be worn until MEA in the fall and after Easter in the spring.

No flip-flops or thong-type shoes. Slippers are not an acceptable footwear choice.
Hair
Hair should be of appropriate length and a natural hair color.

Hairstyles and hair color that attract undue attention or are distracting. Faddish hairstyles wuch as mohawks, spiked hair or multi-colored hair are not acceptable.
  • Jean passes can be earned (they cannot be purchased) throughout the school year but they are allowed to be used ONLY on Fridays. Students must turn in the jean pass to the office before advisory period begins that day.
